PESHAWAR: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly condemned the recent attack on Aleema Khan, sister of Chairman PTI Imran Khan, calling it “regrettable and intolerable”.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, while talking to the media, said, “The foundation of our society is based on the respect of women, social tolerance and decency, and the incident that happened to Aleema Khan is an insult not only to her identity but also to the entire social dignity.”
THe JUI chief reminded on this occasion that his party has strongly opposed condemnable incidents that have happened to political opponents in the past, such as throwing shoes at Nawaz Sharif, throwing ink at Khawaja Asif and shooting Ahsan Iqbal.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that turning political differences into personal attacks and violence is against democratic values. He demanded that the government and law enforcement agencies take strict steps to prevent such incidents so that tolerance and decency can be promoted in the political environment.
Two women threw eggs at Aleema Khan during a press conference outside Adiala Jail yesterday, after which social media and political circles are condemning the act. The police have arrested both the women involved in the incident, and the arrested women are said to be allegedly protected by police.
