PESHAWAR: An awareness walk was organised on the occasion of World TB Day at Khyber Medical University Peshawar. Doctors, students, teachers and civil society representatives participated in the walk.
The speakers said that according to an estimate, 264 people out of 100,000 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are falling victim to a deadly disease like TB every year.
They said that TB is a curable disease, but if not diagnosed and treated on time, it can also prove fatal.
Health experts said that the number of TB patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is increasing at an alarming rate.
They said that the public needs to take special care of cleanliness, get vaccinated and consult a doctor immediately if suspicious symptoms appear to prevent this disease.
According to Khyber Medical University officials, a series of public awareness campaigns will continue to eliminate TB. Information banners about TB were also displayed on the occasion, while experts informed the participants in detail about the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment methods of TB.
It should be noted that World TB Day is celebrated around the world on March 24 every year to raise awareness about the eradication of this deadly disease.
