CHARSADDA: Bacha Khan University Teacher Association demanded Provincial government and the Higher Education Commission provide funds and ensure basic facilities of road and accommodation for teachers of the University.
An emergency meeting of the Teachers Association of Bacha Khan University, Charsadda was held today, Monday. During the meeting, the participants discussed that Bacha Khan University is located in a remote and backwards area of Charsadda.
The road leading to the university is very bad. The university lacks basic facilities compared to other universities in the province. There is neither accommodation facility for employees on campus nor is there any clean drinking water. Most employees travel long distances from other areas to reach their duties on time.
Employees of other universities in the province are given hardship allowance while employees of Bacha Khan University are also deprived of this right. In addition, employees of other universities have been receiving disturbance reduction allowance since 2022, while employees of Bacha Khan University are not being rewarded with this right. Due to its location in a remote area, a large number of staff and students were martyred during the terrorist attack on the university in 2016.
Therefore, the association strongly demands from the provincial government that there should be no discrimination against the employees of Bacha Khan University and that, along with increasing its annual grant, a hardship reduction allowance be given in the existing budget like other employees of the province so that the deprivations of the employees of Bacha Khan University Charsadda could be reduced to some extent.
They warned that if their demands were not taken seriously they would protest to boycott classes and locked down the departments. They said that if the situation was aggravated provincial government and administration would be responsible.
