In a significant directive issued by the Bajaur administration, farmers and landowners in Tehsil Naogai and Tehsil Wada Mamond have been ordered to voluntarily cut down maize and sorghum crops located within 100 meters of the roadside.
The decision, announced jointly by Tehsildar Naogai and Tehsildar Wada Mamond, has been taken in light of security concerns in the area.
According to the announcement, the crops must be removed between August 8 and August 10, 2025, and failure to comply will result in legal action against the violators.
The directive applies to all cultivated areas falling within the specified roadside zone. While no detailed explanation was provided, security officials have previously expressed concern that tall crops near major roads can obstruct visibility and provide cover for unlawful activities.
The administration has urged full cooperation from the local farming community, emphasising that the step is necessary to ensure public safety and assist security forces in maintaining control over the region.
Local authorities have begun public announcements through loudspeakers, and village elders have been informed to spread the message. Meanwhile, some farmers have expressed concern over the short notice and potential loss of produce, urging the administration to consider possible compensation or support.
