BAJAUR: In a major breakthrough, the Bajaur Police have successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics, seizing 3.6 kg of opium from a suspicious vehicle during a roadblock operation on Thursday. The accused, Mutaber Khan, was caught red-handed and arrested on the spot.
According to the police, the operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP Hunar Khan and SHO Zarif Khan, who had set up a roadblock in the Tehsil Lwai Mamund police station jurisdictions. During the search, the police recovered 3 kg 600 grams of opium from under the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The accused, Mutaber Khan, is a resident of Nawagai and was driving the vehicle when he was stopped by the police. He has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under the Prohibited Narcotics Act. The police have started further investigation into the matter.
The official told Pakhtoon English that this is not the first time that the Bajaur Police have made a significant seizure of narcotics. Last year, the police confiscated 32 kg of hashish, 1893 kg of opium, and 296 gm of ice (methamphetamine) in a crackdown on drug smugglers. Despite facing resource constraints, the Bajaur Police have been working tirelessly to combat narcotics smuggling and keep the tribal district safe.
The successful operation is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the Bajaur Police to eradicating narcotics smuggling and promoting a safe and healthy environment for the people of the Bajaur.
