BAJAUR: Approximately 33,000 people have been displaced due to the recent tense situation in Tehsil Mamond of Bajaur.
According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur, the affected families have been relocated to various temporary shelters to ensure they receive immediate assistance.
The district administration reports that 116 government schools and colleges have been converted into temporary residences, accommodating 9,132 individuals, which includes 196 men, 215 women, and 5,141 children. Additionally, affected families have also been housed in the Bajaur Sports Complex, where 2,497 people from 434 families are staying in tents.
According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, around 20,000 people are currently residing in the homes of residents. The registration process for these individuals is underway to ensure they also receive aid and support.
The district administration has intensified relief activities and has appealed to local and international welfare organisations for assistance in providing food, medical aid, and other essential services to the victims.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet has approved a special financial package to help families forced from their homes due to ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Bajaur district.
Under the plan, each displaced family will receive Rs 50,000 immediately. A further Rs 25,000 will be given once the security operations are complete.
The money will be distributed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief). The Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur has been instructed to quickly finalize the registration of affected families to ensure the aid reaches the right people fairly.
The operations, targeting terrorists in Bajaur’s Mamond Tehsil, have caused significant displacement. Over 20,000 families have left areas like Dumadaula, Inam Khoro, Chinagai, and Chohatra so far.
Most displaced families are staying with relatives. The district administration is also providing temporary shelter in government schools and has set up camps in some locations.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Saeedullah Jan confirmed the scale of displacement. The provincial government pledged all possible relief and rehabilitation support for the affected families.
