Two POs killed in Mardan police encounter

BANNU: A deadly exchange of gunfire took place in the jurisdiction of the Haved police station on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of a local watchman and injuries to another resident.

According to police sources the incident occurred when unidentified militants reportedly engaged in a shootout with local residents. During the confrontation, a watchman identified as Farman was killed on the spot, while another local citizen, Abdul Wakeel, sustained injuries.

Police said the injured was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the body of the deceased was transported for post-mortem examination. Initial reports suggest that the number of militants involved ranged between 35 and 40. Authorities have launched a search operation in the area, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the motive and identity of the attackers.

Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert following the incident, as concerns grow over the re-emergence of militant activity in the region. It is not the first incident of terrorism as the area is witnessing a surge in terrorist activities at the hands of armed militants, where large number of police and local people were targeted with gunfire and remote control blasts.
