Bannu holds key jirga on security, elders back army and police

BANNU: A significant meeting (jirga) was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Bannu today, bringing together key officials and local elders. Brigade Commander Bannu Brigadier Naveed Ahmed, the Deputy Commissioner of Bannu, and the District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu met with elders from the Noorar area.

The primary purpose of the jirga was to discuss the law and order situation in the region and explore ways to enhance public cooperation with security forces.

During the meeting, the elders from Noorar extended their congratulations to the Pakistan Army for the success of the recent military effort, Operation “Banyan-ul-Marsoom”. They also expressed appreciation for the continuous hard work of the law enforcement agencies in their mission to bring peace to Bannu.

The elders took a strong stand against terrorism, specifically condemning yesterday’s attack on police personnel in Noorar under the jurisdiction of DPO Bannu. They described it as a cowardly act. The participants unanimously declared their solidarity with state institutions, stating their resolve to stand firmly against those they called “enemies of peace.”

Assuring the law enforcement agencies of their complete backing, the elders promised full support and all possible cooperation. They emphasized their readiness to make any sacrifice necessary to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

Brigade Commander Brigadier Naveed Ahmed acknowledged the elders’ stance. He thanked the local community for their trust and support. Brigadier Ahmed reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to establishing peace in the region, stressing that this goal can only be achieved effectively through continued cooperation with the public.
