Barrister Saif termed federal budget a ‘nightmare for the poor’

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Adviser Barrister Dr. Saif has strongly criticized the Federal Budget 2025–26, calling it a “nightmare for the poor.”

According to details, he stated that the current economic situation demands relief for the common man, but this budget will only add to their hardships. He remarked that the minor increase in salaries for government employees, given the current inflation rate, is “like a drop in the ocean” and amounts to a joke with the people. He also warned that the new taxes imposed on petrol and electricity will trigger a fresh wave of inflation.

Dr. Saif further said that the rise in petrol prices affects every sector of society, and now the government has even imposed taxes on solar panels, snatching away the last alternative source of energy from the people.

“With the most expensive electricity, prolonged load-shedding, and now taxes on solar panels — the government has left no way for the people to survive. This fake federal government has given a fake relief package to the salaried class, just like it manipulated Form-47 (in elections).”

While criticizing the budget, he also sarcastically called it the “business wing budget of the Sharif family” and remarked “It would’ve been more fitting to present this budget in Jati Umra or the Mayfair apartments in London.”

He concluded by demanding that this budget, which he said goes against public interest, should be rejected and immediately reviewed in order to provide real relief to the poor.
