Good news has emerged for domestic gas consumers, as the government has decided to lift the ban on domestic gas connections.
Sources say that the Petroleum Division has sent a summary to lift the ban on gas connections, and it has been decided to provide imported gas connections to domestic consumers.
According to sources, imported gas connections will be provided to new gas consumers, and the fee for imported gas connections will be many times higher than natural gas connections.
It should be noted that the federal government imposed a ban on new gas connections in 2019 due to the decrease in gas availability.
Sources further said that the fee for new imported gas connections will be up to Rs 41,000, and the issuance of new gas connections will start after the approval of the federal cabinet.
It should be noted that sources associated with the Petroleum Division had claimed this month that the federal government is considering lifting the ban on new gas connections.
The Petroleum Division was directed to complete the homework for new connections and assess the needs of new domestic and commercial consumers.
Due to the reduction in gas supplied to all sectors, there is excess gas available in the system. The gas losses of the Sui companies have also been largely controlled. Due to the excess gas in the system, 5 LNG cargoes have been delayed.
