BISP Chairperson Rubina

SAWABI: Provincial President and Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Rubina Khalid, recently chaired a meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Women’s wing. During the meeting, she highlighted the significant achievements and future plans of the BISP, emphasizing its role as the country’s largest welfare initiative.

Rubina Khalid revealed that since January 2025, the quarterly instalment for the Benazir Kafalat program increased from Rs. 10,500 to Rs. 13,500, providing greater financial support to eligible women. She also revealed plans to introduce a new banking model to streamline the process of opening bank accounts for beneficiaries. This model ensures that the full assistance amount is transferred without any deductions, promoting transparency and efficiency in fund distribution.

She explained that the new banking system will facilitate women and ensure the transparent transfer of funds, further empowering them economically. Rubina Khalid reiterated that the BISP is committed to realizing Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision by uplifting women and fostering economic independence.

In a pointed critique, she contrasted the PPP’s achievements with the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial government, which has been in power for eleven years. She accused the KP government of failing to launch a single public welfare project during its tenure, instead focusing on renaming or taking credit for existing initiatives to mask its lack of progress.

Rubina Khalid also referenced the previous PTI government’s attempt to change the name of the Benazir Income Support Program, calling it a reflection of their inability to contribute meaningfully to public welfare. She reaffirmed the PPP’s unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy, equality, and public service, vowing to continue working for the betterment of the people.
