Blocking Indus waters will have long-term consequences, Pakistan Army warns India

The director general of Inter-Services Public Relations DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned India that if it tries to stop the water of the Indus River, it will have such consequences; only a mad person can think of stopping the water for the 240 million people of Pakistan.

In an exclusive interview with Arab News, DG ISPR said that Pakistan’s army was always ready to protect national interests, and if India used water as a weapon, Pakistan would respond with full force.

“I hope that time doesn’t come, but it will be such actions that the world will see and the consequences of that we will fight for years and decades to come. Nobody dares stop water from Pakistan,” Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson of the Pakistan Armed Forces, said.

DG ISPR further said that Pakistan’s army was a professional institution that fully abides by the instructions of the political government and international agreements.

Regarding the ceasefire, he said that the ceasefire was still in place and there were contacts between both sides under confidence-building measures. If there was a violation, they would respond accordingly, but it was only at the positions where the violation was made. “We never target civilians or their infrastructure,” He adds

Talking about the destruction of Indian aircraft, Major General Chaudhry confirmed that 6 Indian aircraft were destroyed, including a Mirage 2000.

The Pakistan Army spokesperson said that we only targeted the aircraft; we could have killed more, but we showed restraint.

DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry added that India’s policy on Kashmir has completely failed, and until India comes to the negotiating table, the risk of tension in the region will remain.
