According to a Bloomberg report, Pakistan has become a preferred partner of US President Donald Trump, while India faces growing diplomatic strain. The analysis highlights Pakistan’s strategic handling of relations during Trump’s tenure, contrasting with India’s rocky ties.
The report notes that Pakistan secured favorable trade terms with the US, unlike India, Brazil, or Switzerland. Ties strengthened during the 2019 India-Pakistan crisis when Trump mediated a ceasefire—accepted by Islamabad but denied by New Delhi. Later, India’s relations with the White House deteriorated further.
Trump’s interest in Pakistan grew due to its untapped mineral resources, including gold and copper reserves, sparking speculation about potential US investment. World Liberty Financial, backed by Trump, also engaged with Pakistan on digital currencies.
The relationship peaked when Trump hosted Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir, at the White House. Islamabad later nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize—a stark contrast to its limited engagement with the Biden administration.
Bloomberg suggests Pakistan’s diplomatic gains have left India anxious, marking a shift in regional dynamics.
