Bodies of six Pakistanis from Libya boat tragedy arrive in Islamabad

PARACHINAR: The bodies of six Pakistanis who died in the Libya boat accident have been brought back to Pakistan, Hameed Hussain, an MNA from Kurram, confirmed on Thursday.

Out of six brought back, one was from Orakzai and the rest were from Parachinar of the troubled tribal district Kurram.

According to MNA and Parliamentary Leader MWM Hameed Hussain, the first flight brought six bodies of the Libya boat tragedy. It includes the dead bodies of Muhammad Ali Shah, Musaib Hussain, Shoaib Ali, Abid Hussain, and another Musaib Hussain and Shoaib Ali.

Six more bodies will arrive in Pakistan on February 28. These include Haider Saqlain, Asif Ali, Ashfaq Hussain, and Nusrat Hussain from Parachinar.

The flight will also bring the bodies of Sirajuddin from Bajaur and Anis Khan from Peshawar.

Qatar Airways will transport the bodies to Islamabad, landing at 7:25 am on February 28.

The Foreign Office confirmed that authorities identified 16 Pakistanis who drowned in Libya on February 5. Ten Pakistanis remain missing.

It is pertinent to mention here that thirteen out of sixteen identified victims of the Libyan boat tragedy belong to Parachinar, while one each hailed from Bajaur, Orakzai and Peshawar districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The unfortunate incident occurred on February 5 when a boat carrying migrants from Libya to Italy capsized, resulting in the deaths of 26 Pakistanis. The victims were trying to go to Europe through the sea for a brighter future.
