PESHAWAR: The ongoing series of vandalism targeting the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Peshawar has persisted, prompting authorities to reconsider the design of the system.
In response to the city’s growing population and traffic congestion, officials have decided to implement further changes to the BRT project, which will incur an additional cost of 70 million rupees. According to the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), modifications are being made at ten different stations across the city to improve traffic flow and accommodate the needs of commuters.
Among the changes, ramps and stairs at stations along University Road are being demolished and redesigned to better manage the movement of people and vehicles.
PDA officials emphasized that these adjustments are necessary to address the city’s increasing rush and ensure smoother operations of the BRT system.
This marks yet another revision to the project, reflecting the challenges faced in balancing urban development with public convenience.
