KARACHI: Leading Chinese automaker BYD has introduced Pakistan’s first plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) pickup truck, the Shark 6, priced at Rs 19.95 crore. The vehicle was unveiled during a PHEV Technology Workshop in Karachi.
Danish Khaliq, BYD Pakistan’s Vice President of Sales and Strategy, stated that the Shark 6 will meet the demand for advanced, eco-friendly vehicles in Pakistan. He explained that the truck is not just a hybrid upgrade but a revolutionary step—its electric motor handles most of the driving, while the petrol engine acts as a backup, offering a smoother and greener experience.
Li Jian, BYD Pakistan’s Country Head, highlighted that the company has 20 years of experience in hybrid technology, having launched the world’s first commercial PHEV in 2008. The Shark 6 features a 1.5-liter high-efficiency engine and a large battery, ensuring long mileage and strong performance. It can also run in full electric mode, making it ideal for city driving.
