China has offered to help improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, welcoming their decision to upgrade diplomatic ties to the ambassadorial level.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that both countries’ governments recently announced plans to appoint ambassadors to each other’s capitals. China believes this move will build trust, increase cooperation, and support regional peace.
Lin noted this step implements agreements made during an informal meeting of Chinese, Pakistani, and Afghan foreign ministers held in May 2023. Beijing called it “an important and positive development” showing both neighbors’ commitment to dialogue.
China reaffirmed its readiness to support the relationship-building process between Islamabad and Kabul.
