China ready to play ‘constructive’ role in Pak-India ceasefire efforts

China Urges Ceasefire Between Pakistan and India, Offers to Play Constructive Role

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed hope for an early ceasefire between Pakistan and India, offering China’s support and willingness to play a constructive role in easing tensions, according to APP.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar.

As a neighbor to both countries, Wang said China is deeply concerned about the escalating conflict and expressed sympathy over civilian casualties in Pakistan.

He reaffirmed China’s support for Pakistan in safeguarding its national sovereignty and dignity. Wang stressed that once a ceasefire is achieved, it must be upheld by both sides to prevent further conflict.

A lasting ceasefire, he added, is in the best interest of both nations, contributes to regional peace and stability, and aligns with the expectations of the international community.
