Chitral to gets sports complex and polo ground restoration: KP Sports Minister

Four day sports gala kicks off in Swabi

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jehan, has announced that a sports complex will be established in Chitral and the restoration work on the Shahi Polo Ground will begin soon.

The provincial government is actively working to promote regional sports. He expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of the Pre-Shandur Polo Tournament final match during his visit to Lower Chitral, where he was the chief guest.

On this occasion, Member of Provincial Assembly from Lower Chitral, Fateh-ul-Mulk, also accompanied him. In the final match of the Pre-Shandur Polo Tournament, Chitral Scouts and Chitral A teams competed, with Chitral A emerging victorious. A large number of spectators were present at the event.

The provincial minister distributed trophies and cash prizes among the players. The winning team of the final match was awarded Rs. 200,000, while the runner-up team received Rs. 100,000.

A tug-of-war competition was also held on the occasion. The winning team of the tug-of-war received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, and the runner-up team was given Rs. 30,000. In his speech at the closing ceremony, Provincial Sports Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan stated that the provincial government is taking concrete steps to promote sports and is committed to regularly organizing regional sports competitions.

 He added that to encourage athletes and promote sports, efforts will be made to restore all polo grounds in Chitral. He assured that the establishment of the Chitral Sports Complex and the restoration of the Shahi Polo Ground will begin soon.
