Citizens to cancel ID cards of deceased family members: NADRA

ISLAMABAD: Despite the registration of 7 million deaths in union councils, the ID cards of these individuals remain active in NADRA’s records.

Canceling the ID card of a deceased individual with NADRA is a legal requirement. A son, daughter, spouse, or parent of the deceased can visit any NADRA centre to cancel the ID card free of charge.

To raise awareness, NADRA is sending SMS notifications to citizens using the available mobile numbers.

Failure to cancel a deceased person’s ID card may create difficulties for their family members, including their son, daughter, spouse, or parents, when processing their own identity documents with NADRA.

If there is an error in the death registration, it should be corrected through the relevant union council secretary.
