ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi on Wednesday reached out to National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub in response to a letter Ayub had written highlighting key national issues.
According to sources, the Chief Justice invited Ayub for a meeting in Islamabad this Friday. However, Ayub declined, citing the risk of being arrested if he traveled to the capital. “If I come to meet you, I might not be able to return—I will be arrested,” he reportedly told the Chief Justice.
Following Ayub’s refusal, Justice Afridi asked if an alternate location could be arranged for the meeting. Ayub then suggested Peshawar as a suitable venue.
Coincidentally, Chief Justice Afridi is scheduled to hear cases at the Supreme Court’s Peshawar Registry on the same day.
