KP CM directs for regulating construction related matters

CM wants waste management operations improved

PESHAWAR: In response to escalating environmental challenges and unregulated construction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mountainous regions, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed the formation of a specialised Working Group to develop comprehensive guidelines for sustainable development in these areas.

The Working Group, led by the Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development, will include administrative secretaries, heads of relevant entities, and field experts.

These guidelines offer practical strategies on sustainable building forms, passive solar design, cultural landscape preservation, material use, visitor management, and integration with local economies and ecosystems.

The Working Group is tasked with customizing these principles to align with provincial laws and planning frameworks, formulating a legal and regulatory integration plan, and proposing institutional mechanisms for approval, monitoring, and enforcement through local authorities.

The initiative aligns with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Policy 2022–2030, which aims to enhance land use planning and building control across the province. The Working Group has been instructed to submit its comprehensive recommendations and proposed implementation plan within sixty days to the Chief Minister.
