CM KP Gandapur calls parliamentary meeting amid reserved seats ruling

KP CM vows to allocate more funds to education in upcoming budget

PESHAWAR: Disappointed by the Constitutional Bench’s recent verdict on reserved seats, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called a meeting of the PTI parliamentary party at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar on Monday (tomorrow).

According to party sources, the chief minister has instructed all members to ensure their attendance. The meeting, which will be chaired by Gandapur himself, aims to strategize the party’s response to the court ruling, which has dealt a significant setback to PTI’s position in national politics.

The session will also cover key matters related to law and order, with particular emphasis on security arrangements for Muharram.

The Constitutional Bench on Friday overturned an earlier Supreme Court decision that had declared PTI eligible for reserved seats. The new ruling declared the party ineligible for 77 seats allocated for women and minorities across national and provincial legislatures.

The verdict has triggered political turmoil, with several opposition parties rejecting the decision and initiating a protest campaign.
