Congo virus claims 3 lives as KP reports 9 cases

The number of Congo virus cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to increase. According to the provincial health department, 9 laboratory-confirmed cases of Congo virus have been reported so far this year, out of which 3 people have lost their lives.
According to the health department’s report dated June 20, 2025, there are currently 3 active Congo virus patients under treatment in the province, out of which 2 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, and 3 patients have also fully recovered so far.
According to the health department’s data, 3 cases of Congo virus have been reported from Peshawar so far, out of which one patient has lost his life. 2 cases each were reported from Nowshera and Karak, while one patient from Karak died.
A patient was also reported from North Waziristan who could not survive. One case was reported from Bajaur, but no deaths were reported there.
The provincial health department says that coordinated measures are underway to prevent the spread of Congo, while all district health units have been put on alert. Special isolation wards have been set up in hospitals, and surveillance has also been increased on the movement of livestock.
