SWAT: The city of Mingora and surrounding areas in Swat have been experiencing intermittent rainfall, which is expected to continue for the next two to three days, according to the Meteorological Department.
This ongoing rain has led to a noticeable increase in the flow of the Swat River, raising fears of possible flooding. In response to the rising water levels, local authorities have issued a high alert to prepare for any emergencies. Rescue teams are actively monitoring the situation to prevent any potential disaster.
Meanwhile, the search operation for 15-year-old Abdullah from Sialkot, who went missing in the Swat River after the recent floods, has entered its twelfth day without any success in recovering his body. Rescue teams equipped with boats, life jackets, ropes, and other professional gear are conducting extensive searches along various parts of the river. Divers have also joined the efforts, conducting underwater searches.
Local residents and the affected family remain present at the site, cooperating with rescue officials. The operation is being closely supervised by Rafiullah Marwat, who is overseeing the ongoing efforts to locate Abdullah.
In other developments, anti-encroachment operations in Swat have been delayed, with no action taken even on the fifth day after the operation was supposed to commence. Similar intermittent rain is also affecting neighbouring districts, including Buner, Shangla, and Chitral.
Authorities continue to appeal for vigilance as the weather system persists, urging residents to stay alert and cooperate with rescue and administrative teams to ensure safety.
