ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Court Islamabad, Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shahzad Gondal suspended the six-month imprisonment sentence of six PTI workers and granted them bail.
Several protest cases filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers were heard in various courts of the federal capital, where some important court decisions and legal developments came to light.
On the other hand, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra of the Anti-Terrorism Court Islamabad heard various cases against the PTI leadership. In these cases Protest case against the disqualification of the founder of PTI, a Case of allegedly crushing Rangers personnel under a vehicle in the November 26 protest and action was taken against the absent accused.
No progress could be made in the case due to the unavailability of the founder of PTI. The prosecutor told the court that “there is a precedent for a trial despite the absence of the accused,” while the defence counsel opposed this position. The court adjourned the hearing till July 29.
In the same court, in the case related to the November 26 protest, the bail bonds of the absent accused were confiscated, and notices were issued to their sureties, while non-bailable arrest warrants were also issued against the accused. The next hearing of the case will be on July 31.
In the case of allegedly crushing Rangers personnel under a vehicle during the protest, the main accused, Hashim Abbasi, filed a petition with the court to stay the trial, in which he took the position that he is suffering from mental balance problems. The court decided to hear the arguments at the next hearing and adjourned the hearing of the case till July 28.
All these cases were registered in Sangjani, Secretariat and Ramna police stations, in which PTI founder Bushra Bibi, Ali Amin Gandapur and other important leaders and workers are named.
