JHANG: To reduce the major inundation of water near Jhang, a crack was created by an explosion near Rivaz Bridge.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the water from the crack will spread to nearby villages, and the pressure on Trimu headworks will be reduced. After the crack, the water reached the Jhang-Chiniot road, which was submerged the road.
On the other hand, consideration is also being given to keeping educational institutions closed for a week in the flood-affected areas, while instructions have been given to immediately evacuate the river belt areas of Nankana, Sheikhupura, and Toba Tek Singh.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia says that 20 people have died in the floods so far, and waterways will have to be evacuated, to avert such of incident. He says that nature has now taken action, the Flood Plain Act will be implemented, and the Chief Minister has clear orders that the waterways should be evacuated immediately.
He has further said that if any development work is done without taking climate change into consideration, then we will suffer losses in it.
