Crushing plants sealed in Bajaur over environmental concerns

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, Mr. Shahid Ali, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) Khar, Dr. Sadiq Ali, along with AAC Khar-1, Kaleem Jan, and the Assistant Director of Industries Bajaur, conducted a joint inspection of the stone crushing units operating in Sheikh Kali, Tehsil Khar.

The purpose of the inspection was to ensure that these units were functioning legally and in an environmentally friendly manner. The main objective was to verify compliance with licensing requirements, environmental quality safety protocols, and operational legality as outlined in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Power Crushers Act, 2020.

As a result of the inspection, five crushing plants were sealed today, following the sealing of thirteen the previous day, due to their operation without the necessary legal permission.

The owners and managers of the sealed units have been instructed to appear before the relevant authorities to regularise their operations and ensure compliance with all legal regulations in accordance with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Power Crushers Act, 2020.

 Police in Bajaur district carried out a successful operation in Loi Sim, arresting five members of a gang involved in theft and fraud. The suspects were caught red-handed while digging up and stealing telephone cables near Inayat Kalay, posing as PTCL staff.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Waqas Rafique supervised the operation, which led to the recovery of stolen Mazda vehicles, motorcycles, pistols, and other equipment used in criminal activities. A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway.

This marks the third major police operation against theft gangs in Bajaur within a week, highlighting intensified efforts to curb crime.
