Deadly fire in Peshawar Kochi Bazaar kills four, injures several

Fire breaks out in medicine company’s warehouse; dousing efforts continue

PESHAWAR: A sudden fire broke out in a market and a nearby residential house close to Kochi Bazaar on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of four people, including two women. Several others were injured in the blaze.

Rescue officials confirmed that six people suffering from burns were rushed to the hospital immediately after the fire started. Sadly, four of these victims succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Rescue 1122 teams responded quickly, initiating operations at the scene. The intense conditions proved dangerous even for the responders, as two firefighters were overcome by smoke and extreme heat. They received first aid at the site before also being transported to the hospital.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson stated that the firefighting effort involved six fire vehicles and more than forty personnel working to control the flames.

The fire has now been brought under control. Crews remain at the affected area conducting cooling operations and beginning an investigation. The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown
