ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry has lauded Iran’s diplomatic role in reducing regional tensions and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between brotherly nations to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.
In an exclusive interview with Iran’s official news agency IRNA — marking the first time a Pakistani military spokesperson has spoken to Iranian state media — the DG ISPR expressed gratitude for Tehran’s support, particularly after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the April 22 Pahalgam attack without evidence.
“We appreciate all efforts by the international community and brotherly nations, especially Iran, in promoting regional calm,” he said, referring to the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to Pakistan.
Lt Gen Chaudhry cautioned against forces, supported by external elements, attempting to create rifts among friendly neighbors. He stressed the need for vigilance and unity, reaffirming the historic and deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Iran.
He noted that both countries maintain close communication on various issues and are working together to ensure their shared border remains peaceful. “Pakistan and Iran are key regional players, committed to lasting peace and stability,” he concluded.
