WASHINGTON:Hundreds of Kashmiri Americans held a peaceful demonstration outside the White House on Saturday, expressing gratitude to former U.S. President Donald Trump for his role in brokering the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire and offering to mediate on Kashmir.
Protesters carried placards urging international attention to Kashmir while speakers called for sustained U.S. pressure on India to resolve the dispute. “Lasting peace in South Asia is impossible without settling Kashmir,” one speaker stated, adding that Trump “deserves the Nobel Peace Prize” for his efforts.
The rally also praised Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir for his “blunt and clear stance” on Kashmir, calling it encouraging for oppressed Kashmiris.
