DPM Dar to lead Pakistan’s delegation at OIC-CFM session

Ishaq Dar visit

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar will embark on a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday to attend the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah.

Dar will travel directly from Dhaka, following the completion of his two-day visit to Bangladesh, to participate in the high-level gathering.

The Extraordinary Session will bring together foreign ministers and senior officials from OIC member states to discuss collective responses to the worsening situation in Palestine, particularly in light of Israel’s ongoing military aggression, its plans to assert full military control over Gaza, and persistent violations of Palestinian rights.

Pakistan, a consistent advocate of the Palestinian cause, continues to highlight the issue at global platforms. At the upcoming OIC session, Ishaq Dar will reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestine and reiterate its principled position.

He is expected to call for Israel’s complete withdrawal from all occupied Palestinian territories, strongly oppose the proposed plan to extend full military control over Gaza and further displace Palestinians, and stress the urgent need for unrestricted humanitarian aid. Dar will also underscore Pakistan’s demand for the restoration of Palestinians’ legitimate rights, particularly the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state with pre-June 1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

On the sidelines of the session, the Deputy Prime Minister is also likely to hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of key OIC member states.
