ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will visit the United States next week to represent Pakistan at key events under its presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in New York, along with holding diplomatic engagements in Washington.

While in New York, Dar will chair several high-profile sessions as part of Pakistan’s signature initiatives at the UNSC. These include a high-level open debate titled “Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes.” According to the Foreign Office, the session aims to explore effective ways to strengthen multilateral mechanisms and promote diplomacy and mediation as means of resolving conflicts peacefully.

Dar will also preside over the UNSC’s Quarterly Open Debate on the “Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question” and lead a high-level briefing focused on enhancing collaboration between the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The event reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to build stronger partnerships between global and Islamic bodies to promote peace and stability.

To reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, Dar will attend a high-level international conference on the “Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.”

During his stay in New York, the Deputy Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with various foreign ministers and senior UN officials.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar’s visit underscores Pakistan’s growing engagement in multilateral diplomacy and its expanding ties with the United States. His participation in key UN forums on the Middle East and Palestine further highlights Pakistan’s principled stance and enduring support for the Palestinian cause.
