GILGIT-BALTISTAN: Tremors of an earthquake were felt in Gilgit-Baltistan and surrounding areas on Saturday morning, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes reciting prayers.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 3.7 on the Richter scale with a depth of 25 kilometers. The epicenter was located 34 kilometers southwest of Skardu.

Tremors were strongly felt in Gilgit, Skardu, Astore, and nearby areas. People inside homes, shops, and offices came out into open spaces for safety.

No loss of life or property has been reported so far. However, the local administration has issued instructions to closely monitor the situation and remain prepared for any possible emergency.

Authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures, stay away from high-rise buildings, and avoid spreading or believing in rumors. With concerns about possible aftershocks, residents have been urged to remain cautious.
