The chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Khan, stated that the Supreme Court has clarified that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not possess the authority to declare any member as “Sadiq” and “Amin.”

In an interview with Pakhtun Digital in Islamabad on Wednesday, Barrister Gohar highlighted the significance of an upcoming parliamentary meeting scheduled after the budget session, where important issues will be discussed.

The meeting will specifically review the ECP’s decision to disqualify Jamshed Dasti. He expressed concern that the issue of “Sadiq” and “Amin” has resurfaced, calling it unfortunate.

“The Election Commission has raised questions about Jamshed Dasti’s role,” he emphasised. Barrister Gohar also noted that for the first time, the Supreme Court invoked Article 62-1D in relation to dual citizenship.
