ECP disqualifies 24 ex-parliamentarians  

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified 24 former lawmakers for not submitting asset details.

As per details, the electoral body has disqualified former members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies for not submitting asset details.

According to the Election Commission, 10 former members of the National Assembly and 7 former members of the Sindh and Balochistan assemblies have been disqualified. These members will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming elections until they submit their asset details.

Former members of the lower house of the parliament who were disqualified included Rana Muhammad Ishaq Khan, Kamaluddin and Asmatullah. Former members of the National Assembly, Samina Matlub, Naseeba, Shamim Ara Panwar and Rubina Irfan.

The Election Commission also disqualified former members of the Sindh Assembly. They include Adeel Ahmed, Hizbullah Bhagio, Arsalan Taj Hussain, Arif Mustafa Jatoi and Imran Ali Shah, Ali Ghulam and Tahira. All they served in the previous terms of the Sindh Assembly.

The Election Commission has also disqualified seven former members of the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Sikandar Ali, Mir Muhammad Akbar and Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Abdul Rashid, Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, Mir Hamal and Bibi Shahina.

The Election Commission’s decision states that the former members of the assembly will remain disqualified until they submit Form B of their assets for the financial year 2022-23.

All these members will have to complete their details before participating in the elections, otherwise their disqualification will remain.
