On the issue of oath-taking of members of reserved seats of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the Secretary Election Commission has written a letter to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa requesting him to convene a session of the provincial assembly.
In the letter to the Governor, the Election Commission has said that under Article 109, the Governor should exercise his authority to convene a session so that the members of reserved seats can be sworn in, which is necessary for the completion of the electoral college for the Senate elections to be held on July 21.
The letter states that earlier, the Election Commission had written a letter to the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, to which the Speaker replied that it is not in his power to convene a session of the assembly himself under the constitution or the rules.
In this regard, the Secretary Election Commission has also written a letter to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa requesting him to send a summary to the Governor to convene a session so that there is no delay in the oath-taking of the members and the electoral college can be completed.
