ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr and Spring vocations for Islamabad Capital Territory’s schools. The federal government had announced a three-day holiday on account of the Eid ul Fitr.
According to the notification, Eid holidays and spring break will be observed from 31-03-2025 to 4-04-25 in all the schools run under the FDE in the federal capital.
Educational activities in the Islamabad schools will resume on April 7 after the Eid holidays.
The federal government has declared a three-day public holiday for Eid ul Fitr, starting on March 31 and ending on April 2. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan for Muslims worldwide.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the final date for Eid-ul-Fitr will be determined based on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, along with zonal committees, will meet on March 30 (Sunday) evening to make an official announcement.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a high chance of the Shawwal moon being sighted on March 30, making March 31 the likely date for Eid celebrations.
The federal government has announced the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on Wednesday.
As per the notification issued by the cabinet division, the holidays will be from March 31 to April 2.
According to the Meteorological Department’s focal person Anjum Nazir, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will be held on March 30, when the moon will be 27 hours old and can be easily seen.
There will be a difference of about an hour between sunset and moonset, due to which the possibility of the moon being visible for an hour is clear.
