At least eight people were killed as a car plunged into a ravine in the Lower Kohistan district here on Thursday. Women and children were among the deceased.
According to rescue officials, a car going from Rawalpindi to Gilgit-Baltistan fell into a ravine in the Matta Banda area of Lower Kohistan.
The incident took place on the Karakoram Highway, which is known for frequent traffic accidents in the area owing to its rugged condition.
Eight people, including 2 women and 5 children, died in the accident.
Officials say that rescue teams and local people are busy retrieving the bodies. The deceased belongs to the same family as Rawalpindi.
