Eight more houses, 37 cattle perished in Shangla flood, landslide

SHANGLA: 8 houses were destroyed, and 37 cattle perished due to flash floods and landslides that occurred in various parts of the Shangla district on Saturday night. Additionally, two bodies out of the seven missing were recovered from the Indus River.

Shangla administration said in a statement that the areas of Yakhtangay, Drad, and Kana tehsil were significantly affected by these natural disasters. He confirmed that eight houses collapsed across three different villages, but fortunately, there were no reported human casualties.

The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that 37 cattle lost their lives in a landslide in the Olandar Takai area of the Kana tehsil. According to information from the district administration, a car was swept away by the floods in the Yakhtangay area; however, the driver was unharmed.

Rasool Khan Sharif, spokesperson for Rescue 1122 in Shangla said that two bodies, including that of a woman, were recovered from the Indus River. These individuals were swept away during the flooding that occurred from the Shati Dara area of Puran tehsil on August 15.
