Electricity bills to drop: Rs1.5 per unit tariff reduction approved

Good news for those concerned about inflation: NEPRA has approved a reduction of Rs 1.50 per unit in the basic average electricity tariff. As a result of this decision, consumers can expect lower electricity bills in the coming months.

According to the details, NEPRA has formally notified the government about this reduction, which sets the multi-year tariff for electricity distribution companies at Rs 34 per unit. However, this reduction is contingent upon the government’s decision regarding the subsidy.

The federal government will soon issue an official notification to implement this decision, after which the new prices will take effect. NEPRA officials stated that this step aims to alleviate the financial burden on the public and help ease inflationary pressures to some extent.

Government sources have indicated that the decision on the subsidy will be finalized shortly to provide immediate relief to the public.
