CHARSADDA: The employees of Bacha Khan University Charsadda staged a protest sit-in for the restoration of their jobs and warned to block the main road to meet their demands.
Talking to Pakhtun Digital, several employees were heartbroken and disappointed by the provincial government’s decision to dismiss their services without any reason. The University administration has sacked 139 employees of Bacha Khan University who were on a contract basis. One of the employees from the University said that he was serving in the University as a computer operator and there are still a lot of vacancies due to which the University’s work is hampered and even result was delayed due to a lack of the employees, but the university has sacked these employees for their grievances.
Some poor women employees who work as class-IV in Bacha Khan University said that they have no male person in their family in their house, and he was fully dependent on this job to earn a livelihood for their children. She said that the administration’s cruel policy has deprived 139 jobholders of their sources of income, and they have no sources of income to start any other business except this job. The local community leaders have also expressed severe disappointment over this decision of the University to sack skilled employees and asked the Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, to intervene in the matter to restore the jobs of these poverty-stricken employees.
On this occasion heavy contingent of police was deployed to thwart any untoward incident. The police also held negotiations with employees to open the road, but the employees were of the view that until a written guarantee, they would not end their protest movement.
