BANNU: Local government employees protested against non-payment of their salaries and pensions for the last four months and warned of to boycott of municipal services in the city.

Local government employees in the Bannu district have started a strong protest against non-payment of salaries and pensions for the last four months. The protesting employees have locked the main door of the municipal office and have completely boycotted municipal services, due to which cleanliness and other local government affairs in the city were badly affected.

The protesters said that due to non-payment of salaries, they and their families are facing serious financial problems, while pensioned employees have also not received their pensions for several months. They have demanded that the outstanding salaries and pensions for four months be paid immediately.

The employees have announced that the protest will continue until the demands are approved, and municipal services will not be restored. Citizens have also expressed concern over the closure of local government services and demanded that the government take immediate steps to resolve the issue.

Earlier, the Finance Advisor Muzamil Aslam had informed that the Finance department had released funds to their elected MPAs and the local government department on July 05. However, the employees at the local level are complaining about the shortage of funds.

The federal government have also released some of the outstanding amount of the Provincial government, but it is not known that how PTI managed these funds in the province to address the local issues.
