PESHAWAR: A high-level review meeting was held to assess the progress of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department’s roadmap, chaired by Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali.
The meeting reviewed ongoing reforms and projects, including delays in finalizing the “MCC List” for medicine supply due to incomplete document uploads on the e-PADS system.
Although the standard medicine list has been updated, its formal approval is still pending.
Officials also discussed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Immunization Strategy 2025-30, which has been approved at the administrative level.
The strategy includes special measures for poorly performing union councils and introduces evening vaccination services in 62 Peshawar union councils under the “Integrated Evening Outreach Service.”
Plans are also underway to extend evening or 24-hour vaccination services in DHQ and major hospitals to improve vaccine coverage, including birth doses.
Additionally, the assessment for establishing newborn care units in 10 densely populated districts has been completed, with Program Director Dr. Faisal Shahzad personally inspecting each DHQ hospital.
The meeting stressed the need for a coordinated approach to accelerate health reforms and improve departmental performance.
