Excise Inspector killed four others injured in Road incident on Motorway

Several family members hospitalised after consuming ‘poisonous’ food in Swat

SAWABI: An Excise Police Inspector was killed and his four other colleagues seriously injured when his car went out of control on the Motorway near Sawabi on Saturday morning.

A local correspondent informed that the incident occurred due to over-speeding and brake failure. The car of the Excise staff was chasing a suspected vehicle allegedly involved in Smuggling on the Islamabad Peshawar Motorway.

As a result of the accident, Excise Inspector Uzair Muhammad died on the spot, while four soldiers were seriously injured. The injured personnel include Constable Qamar Zaman, a resident of Bajaur, Constable Mansoor and Muhammad Ijaz, residents of Karak, and Sepoy Salar, a resident of Bajaur.

As soon as the accident was reported, the medical team of Rescue 1122 immediately reached the spot, where after providing first aid to the injured, they were shifted to Bacha Khan Medical Complex in critical condition.

The deceased Inspector Uzair Muhammad belonged to Bajaur. Police and Motorway authorities have started an investigation to find out further reasons.

The excise staff frequently chase smugglers on the Peshawar Islamabad Motorway, which sometimes results in untoward road incidents or firing from the smuggler; however, today’s incident seems to be over speeding while chasing the smugglers.
