Explosion reported inside masjid in South Waziristan

PESHAWAR: Several people were reportedly injured in a powerful explosion in a mosque in the South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

Local authorities say that the blast occurred inside a Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque located in Azam Warsak area of lower South Waziristan.

According to police sources, several people, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam South Waziristan Lower District Ameer Maulana Abdullah Nadeem were injured in the blast.

Rescue operations have been launched after the blast. The injured are being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Wana. The nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained.

Yesterday, security forces had thwarted a terrorist attack on a post of the Pakistan Army in the Jandola area of Tank and killed 10 terrorists. A soldier was also martyred in the attack.

Security sources say that an attack on a Pakistan Army post in Jandola was foiled, the post was attacked by foreigners, and a suicide bomber blew himself up in a vehicle near the FC camp.

The operation against the terrorists who attacked the Army post in Tank continues, and military choppers are also taking part in the operation.
