Facebook has deleted nearly 10 million fake accounts in the first half of 2025 as part of a major effort to combat impersonation and spam.
According to Meta, the parent company of Facebook, these fake profiles were pretending to be celebrities, influencers, or popular content creators. The move aims to promote content from real users while reducing spam and copied material.
The company used AI and advanced detection tools to identify duplicate posts and restore original content. Users who repeatedly shared copied content had their monetization privileges suspended.
Meta also introduced a new video player feature to improve user experience. The company stated that the crackdown on fake accounts and copied content will continue with the help of AI technology.
