SHARJAH: Pakistan defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 31 runs in the fifth match of the Tri-Nation T20 series, held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, on Thursday.
According to details, Pakistan also managed to qualify for the final of the ongoing Tri-Nation T20 series.
The UAE team failed to chase a target of 172 runs set by Pakistan, managing only 140 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Ali Shan Sharafu made 68 and was the top scorer for the UAE.
Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed delivered an exceptional performance, taking 4 wickets for just 9 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. The team posted a total of 171 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Pakistan’s opening pair of Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub couldn’t build a strong partnership; Farhan scored 16 while Saim made 11.

However, a solid partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz helped Pakistan recover. Fakhar remained unbeaten on 77, while Nawaz supported well with an unbeaten 37.
For UAE, Haider Ali took 2 wickets, while Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Rouhith, and Shiraz Peshawar picked up one wicket each.
With this win, Pakistan have officially qualified for the final of the tri-nation tournament.
