False fire news at Lahore Airport exposes Indian media again

ISLAMABAD: Indian media outlets were once again exposed after spreading false reports of a fire at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, claiming that several people, including soldiers, had died.

Major Indian platforms, including Financial Express, DNA India, and ABP Live, circulated the baseless story without any verification. DNA India even falsely claimed it had “verified” the incident, reporting — without evidence — that “14 Pakistani soldiers have died.”

In response, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) strongly condemned the dissemination of unverified and sensationalised news, warning that such irresponsible reporting only fuels panic and confusion. The PAA urged citizens to trust only official and credible sources for updates and advised the public to boycott media outlets engaged in spreading misinformation.

This incident has further eroded the credibility of Indian media, which has increasingly faced criticism for promoting fake news and anti-Pakistan propaganda.

Earlier, Indian media was also widely criticised for its misleading coverage of the recent attack in Pahalgam, occupied Kashmir, where it distorted facts and levied baseless accusations against Pakistan — once again blending imagination with propaganda to stoke regional tensions.
