ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee has approved a proposal in the Finance Bill stating that any vehicle with a tampered chassis number or a new seal will now be considered illegal. If caught, such vehicles will be treated as smuggled goods and destroyed.
During a briefing, the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) informed the committee that these vehicles cannot be registered with any motor registration authority. Once seized, they must be either burned or dismantled for spare parts, with no option for auction.
The Standing Committee further recommended that confiscated vehicles should be destroyed within 30 days to prevent illegal resale.
